StayFocusd vs BlockSite: which Chrome blocker fits you?
StayFocusd and BlockSite are both Chrome blockers, built for different locks. StayFocusd has about 700,000 users on the Chrome Web Store (October 2026) and 4.4★ from 8.8K ratings (version 4.6.15, updated October 2026). The Chrome and Edge extension is free, with Nuclear Option and in-page hiding. BlockSite has about 1,000,000 users on the Chrome Web Store (October 2026) and 4.5★ from 32.4K ratings (version 7.1.1, updated July 26, 2026), with Schedule Mode, a password, and Android and iOS. SiteKeeper is a third option if you want the time log and a cap you can still extend.

TL;DR
Pick StayFocusd if you want a free browser lock, Nuclear Option, Require Challenge, or in-page hiding on Chrome and Edge. Pick BlockSite if you want schedules, a password, uninstall prevention, keyword blocks, and the list on your phone. Pick SiteKeeper if you want to see where Chrome time went and set daily plus weekly caps you can raise. None of the three wins every row.

Where each blocker actually fits
Limits and time budgets
StayFocusd limits are per block group: sites in the group share one daily allowance, and listed sites stay blocked until the daily reset. The current extension also shows a usage dashboard with daily stats. It is still organized around the list you gave it.
BlockSite Usage Limit is a daily cap. When it is hit, the site stays blocked for the rest of the day. Their pages do not publish a free-site count, so this page does not invent one. A weekly cap is not in the BlockSite or StayFocusd feature lists we checked.
SiteKeeper limits are per site, daily and weekly. The week starts on Monday. Weekly caps are not held back for Pro. Free accounts can save limits on up to 6 hosts. When the cap hits, the page says “Time's Up!” and you can add 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes, which raises the saved cap. That is a softer budget than either “blocked until tomorrow” model.
Hard locks
StayFocusd’s Nuclear Option blocks for a number of hours you choose, on chosen days, and cannot be canceled once it starts. Require Challenge can sit in front of settings changes. In-page blocking can hide YouTube Shorts, comments, and recommendations without blocking the whole domain. Those are StayFocusd wins. SiteKeeper has no equivalent.
BlockSite’s store listing includes password protection and uninstall prevention. That is a different kind of hard lock: it aims at settings and removal, not only at a countdown you must wait out. SiteKeeper has neither. If you disable SiteKeeper, the limits are gone.
Pick the lock that matches the failure mode. Nuclear Option is for “I will cheat in the next hour.” A password and uninstall prevention are for “I will turn the tool off.” SiteKeeper is for “I want a pause, and I am willing to be able to override it.”
Scheduling
StayFocusd Active Days and Hours decide when the limiter is in force. BlockSite Schedule Mode is scheduled blocking. The $33.50 annual plan on their pricing page includes automated scheduled sessions. Their landing page says the free plan has no scheduling.
SiteKeeper does not copy either model. A time window holds an optional budget for chosen days and hours — stricter on weekdays, for example. Standing inside that clock range does not by itself block the site. Daily and weekly caps still apply outside the window. There is no cross-midnight window. If you want “this site is simply closed from 9 to 5,” StayFocusd or BlockSite (on a plan that includes scheduling) is the closer match.
Insights and tracking
StayFocusd now includes website usage history and daily stats, plus Gen AI analytics for how you use AI chat platforms. That Gen AI view is specific. SiteKeeper will count those chats as ordinary active-tab time if they are in Chrome. It does not publish a separate Gen AI analytics report. A 0–100 productivity score is not in the StayFocusd feature list we checked.
BlockSite Insights covers browsing trends and categories. We do not have a public spec of how deep that goes, so this page stops there. BlockSite also has Focus Mode, a Pomodoro. StayFocusd’s store name includes “Focus Timer”; the feature list we checked does not spell out a Pomodoro. SiteKeeper has no Pomodoro and no focus-session timer.
SiteKeeper’s report is the active tab on every site, tags, charts, a 0–100 score computed on device, CSV export, and path analysis you turn on per host (free for 3 hosts). On Sunday the weekly report can open by itself. It is not emailed. You do not have to put a site on a block list before its time shows up. That is the row SiteKeeper is for. It is not a reason to ignore a lock you still need.
Platforms and sync
StayFocusd runs on Chrome and Edge and syncs usage limits across devices, including Android devices and other browsers. BlockSite’s listing is in 17 languages and syncs blocked sites, keywords, and the password with Android and iOS. The interface you configure on the phone is part of the product.
SiteKeeper is Chrome only. No Edge or Firefox build, and no mobile app. The interface is English. Browsing history and limits are not synced to another computer or a phone. Privacy-first; we never sell or share your data. If the block list has to exist on a phone, BlockSite is the one that documents that sync. StayFocusd is the one that documents Edge and Android limit sync.
Pricing
StayFocusd’s Chrome and Edge extension is free, including Nuclear Option. Check stayfocusd.com for any paid add-ons.
The pricing page lists an annual subscription at $33.50 for unlimited site and app blocking and automated scheduled sessions. A landing page lists Lifetime Premium at $49.90, and describes Free as limited blocking (sites and apps), manual usage only, 1 device, and no scheduling. The help center says only the Adult category is included for free; other categories need Premium. Only the Adult category is included for free; other categories need Premium.
SiteKeeper is free to start: tracking, daily and weekly limits on up to 6 sites, path analysis on 3 hosts, the productivity score, and CSV export. Pro $4.99/mo or $24.99/yr. Lifetime $29.99 once. Annual Pro ($24.99) is less than BlockSite’s $33.50 year, and Lifetime ($29.99) is less than the $49.90 landing-page price. Monthly Pro ($4.99) is $59.88 over a year, which is more than that $33.50 plan. You are not buying the same lock.
